Our Hope for Baltimore

November 11, 2015

When we started 30th & Weldon, we knew we wanted to be more than just a lifestyle blog. In addition to the drink recipes, fashion, and DIY posts we enjoy posting, we also wanted to have a very strong focus on Baltimore. Throughout this blog’s short 11-month life, we have featured various local businesses and have hosted a few events. We love the relationships we’ve built with local artists, musicians, florists, restaurants, bar owners, and craft-makers. Our love for this city drives this blog forward and is at the forefront of our minds in everything we do.

We believe Baltimore is an incredible place. We all moved here when we went to college—from as close as Howard County to as far as New York City—and have stayed ever since. This city is bustling with talent, fantastic small business, and local pride. Community is as strong as ever here in Baltimore and we want to see that community grow.

We love Baltimore. It is a wonderful place that is home to many incredible people. There is also a complicated history between marginalized people and people in positions of power that many of us do not have the agency to understand. There is a lot of pain in Baltimore and our hope is that, as time goes on, that pain is lessened. We are hopeful that all citizens of Baltimore can come together to create and sustain community. We want to see this city’s rich history preserved while its future enriched. We are confident we can show the world what an amazing place this really is.

We have truly been charmed by Charm City. We are not only excited to see Baltimore grow but are also both grateful and humbled to be a part of this wonderful community.
